Increased detection of early colorectal cancer and its precursor lesions is expected as the HKSAR introduced screening program for the eligible population. More information on the program can be seen here. When colorectal cancers are found at their early stages, they are readily curable by surgical intervention. Endoscopic resection is suitable in selected cases and saves patients from major surgical resection. For cases beyond endoscopic treatment, minimally invasive surgery is the next in line and can lead to enhanced recovery compared to conventional open surgery.
